The wealth that Maggie dreamed of arrived in 1893 when the Ibex Co., in which J.J. owned substantial shares, struck gold in Leadville`s Little Jonny Mine. Besides the history that the tour guide shares, there is a plethora of information about Margaret Brown's life sold in the Visitor Center.

In 1895 the Browns took their family on a tour of Europe, and Maggie found a new world opened up to her. However, once tourists and other fans have been drawn to the buildings, both organizations work hard to present a historical portrayal of the life and homes of Margaret Brown.

In her mid-teens, Margaret moved to the booming mining town of Leadville, Colorado. It went through several owners after the Browns, but it was eventually acquired in 1970 by Historic Denver, a foundation that restored it to the state it was in when the Browns lived there.

Sensationalist writer Carolyn Bancroft elaborated upon Fowler's stories and her highly fictional depiction of Brown's life was turned into a pamphlet, a radio script, and eventually a Broadway musical called The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Molly Brown, as most people know, was nick-named the unsinkable” Molly Brown, for her amazing survival of the Titanic tragedy in 1912.

This souvenir booklet gives a brief bio of the life of that "Unsinkable" Molly Brown, as well as a respectably detailed description, including historic black & white photographs, of her classic Victorian home. Kristen Iversen says Brown did not like it. The name "Molly" was often used as an insult for an Irish girl, and nobody in her own life called her that.

Unfortunately for her memory The Unsinkable Molly Brown was a runaway success that became a movie which earned an Oscar nomination for its star Debbie Reynolds.
